Within the first hours of your newborn, he will be alert and it is the time that you need to be acquitted with him. This is the time that you can start the bonding process and if you cannot have your newborn at once, then you should do it as soon as possible. If your Newborn has reached to full term, he will be in different positions such as arms and legs that will hold together, the knees that are flexed, elbow that it is bend and the fists that are clenched.

During the first weeks, the baby will spend most of his time sleeping. For the newborn, this can be too exaggerated especially if the mother got the anesthesia or pain medications while giving birth. When the newborn becomes awake, then his breathing rate can also differ and sometime it can exceed 60 breaths each minute. Sometime the child also can stop to breathe for some seconds and start again. This is known as periodic breathing and it can take place anytime. However, you have to call the doctor immediately if your newborn turns blue or if he stops to breathe for a long time. Other things to expect with a newborn baby are the hiccups and sneezing.
